Hello, Friends! I can't believe it's been almost 2 years, but I'm back.
Jacs, what happened to beekeeping?
Well, the quick answer is- Philip and I decided that after 16 years of marriage, we were getting a divorce. So instead of setting up my backyard for bees, I canceled my order (as mentioned) and prepared to move. I moved from Coeur d' Alene to the Boise area to live with my dear Grandfather. It's been such a blessing to live with him!
Also, as you can imagine, divorce after an 18 year long relationship (16 year marriage), was incredibly difficult. Even with a very amicable and even positive ending to the relationship, handling another major life-shift was incredibly tough.
I'll spare y'all the details because- ain't nobody here for a sob story. The point is, moving 8 hours away into someone else's home did not make it very easily possible for me to continue growing my beekeeping obsession, so it was on pause. Not all the way, mind you, I spend many hours watching and taking pictures of bees when I found them foraging near me. But keeping them wasn't in the cards.
Here are a few pics from last summer:
So, on Easter I decided that this summer I needed to get back into beekeeping, even if that meant just doing what I've done thus far and getting involved with other beekeepers since I can't keep my own just yet.
I posted on the Treasure Valley Beekeepers page:
I know I shouldn't have been surprised by the reaction, but I was. I was contacted by about a dozen friendly beekeepers looking to share their hives and use the help!
I was actually scheduled to go out to an apiary this morning but there was a hangup with the bee delivery plus the rainy weather (the girls don't like getting wet), so not today.
BUT wait...there will be more!
My buzz for bees has been reignited and now there'll be no stopping me.
I'm back on the bees and there will be more posts to come!
